New House, New Quarter, New Yard...

The time has come to share some pictures of our new space. We haven't worked any magic on the living room yet because we are painting in the next couple weeks (!!!) and don't have our furniture here. But I know you are dying to have a little look-see so here's a couple of pictures of our house's innards. Remember how lame it looks now because soon it will be painted and beautiful and nested!

This is when you walk in the front door, living room/dining area
Our kitchen isn't as big as our last one, but we are making do just fine.
So... our yard used to look like this, but a stupid giant stump in our yard was taking over the property with it's obnoxious giant roots and baby trees everywhere, and the lawn was very uneven and awful. So we invited Kraig and my dad to visit with Kraig's Kubota.

There! Now we just need to plant some grass and we will be good to go. Thank you so much dad and Kraig!! Look at the roots we dug up. Tractor: 1, Stump: 0.

So we have a lot of work to do on the place, but once we work our magic on it it will be perfect. I just wonder when we will all find time with school starting on monday and all...

I won't know what main program I'm taking until Tuesday, because I'm on a lot of waitlists and have to show up to the first day of a couple different classes to see what I get into. I do know for sure that I am taking a 4 credit class called Towards Becoming a Teacher and also woodworking. I'm working for the Center for Community Based Learning and Action (CCBLA) again this year 10 hours per week, which I am very excited about. Last year I worked at Tumwater High school which was a 45 minute bus ride to spend 3 hours with whiny angry high schoolers. This year I convinced them to let me work at Garfield Elementary, which is not only an age group that I love working with and see myself working with as a career, but it is also right next to my house! Yay for walking to work!!

In other news, Hanna bear has returned from her jungle adventures in Belize this summer, and our family is whole again. To celebrate the end of the summer we went camping this week about an hour south of Olympia at a state park on Mayfield lake. Our former neighbor and now good friend Tatsu also came with us, and it was a jolly time. A little too cold for swimming, or sleeping, but it was nice to relax a little bit and spend some time together.

Well summer, it's been real.
Let the quarter begin.
