Creations, Cotton Candy, and Culinary Wonders

What am I doing with myself this summer you wonder?
Well, sometimes I work here:

Same place I've worked for 3 summers, and hopefully this is my last summer here or I might punch someone in the face. But yes, I am happy that I have some work and some money coming in. But if I have to plant any more cyclamen I might die a little bit inside.

I only work weekends though, so this leaves five glorious days of the week for other adventures! I had a nice time visiting some friends on Vashon a couple weekends ago. Stephanie will point out where she lives on Vashon for you in this picture.

We went to point defiance park out of boredom and realized that there was an event going on, I think it was Tastes of Tacoma or something, but it wasn't very interesting so we played on the beach and wandered around in the forest. That was exciting.

Speaking of beaches, I have come to the same realization as Lila that there are beaches in this town, and that it's fun to go to them. So we've been spending some quality time hanging around on the beach, building fun beach sculptures.

With my other copious free time, I've been spending a lot of days in the kitchen, making tons of jam. Yes, I took nice pictures of my jam, so I might as well share them with you. But only because I'm embarking on a crafty project of trying to put together a nice recipe book for myself with pictures.

Raspberry, mmmmm:Strawberry Rhubarb! Sooo good:
Spiced Blueberry, deeeeeelicious:
I got bored of making the amazing rustic bread that mom and I have learned how to make, so I've been experimenting with trying to make a hearty whole grain/seed bread. This was my first attempt and it turned out so wonderful! So good. And healthy.

I've also been breakin out the knitting kneedles because it seemed like a fun idea to make things for my friends. These slippers are for my bestest friend at UW (can you tell?) and I got excited about some new hand-felting needles I got and so I also made a stuffed animal for my friend in Olympia.

In other news, when I left for school the once lovely and bountiful garden deteriorated into something like this:

And the only solution was this:

Time for a fresh start in the garden I guess. I've been thinking a lot about the beautiful garden I plan on initiating in Olympia when I get back. We (Katie Heather Hanna) are determined to find a nice little house to live in semi-permanently until we finish school ish, because nobody likes moving all the time.

Oh yes! The 4th of July! It was so fun to be back in Kingston for the 4th, last year I was in Vienna or Prague or something. Kingston is where it's at. The parade, the inner tubing, the fireworks, the friends, all the people in town, I love it so much.

Jessie and I also helped out a little at Tiny town selling cotton candy. We only sold 3 though, because nobody really wants cotton candy on July 3rd at 10 in the morning. But we were festive for the occasion anyway.

That's all for now folks!
